Dying Intestate in Spain
In a situation where the deceased dies without a Will, all children will inherit equally and if there are no children, then any surviving parents will inherit.
If there are no children or parents but there is a spouse then that spouse will inherit.
If there is no spouse either then more remoter family will inherit (up to 4 levels) and notaries are obliged to search for these relatives, but if no relatives are found, the estate will pass to the government/crown.
