Our Spanish client journey
Initial enquiry.
Appointment made.
Appointment confirmed by telephone the day before.
Meeting with advisor face to face or over the phone
Paperwork completed and/or 2nd appointment made for further products or for more time for consideration.
Payment taken by cash (£s or €s), bank transfer or credit/debit card – daily exchange rate will be applied if paying in Sterling.
Receipt, drafting process form, cancellation rights, terms of business and “now you are a client” form given/sent.
We send a digital receipt for all card payments within 24 hours if that method of payment has been chosen.
We send a welcome letter by e mail.
English drafts are sent by e mail within 5 working days - if no e mail they can be collected from our shop - we will not use CORREOS.
Spanish drafts are sent within 10 working days - if no e mail they can be collected from our shop - we will not use CORREOS.
Clients can amend drafts as they wish with no extra fee.
When happy, clients will give us a declaration to proceed to produce their legal documents.
Clients with Spanish Wills and/or Spanish property and Finance LPAs will then have an appointment arranged with the notary in Torrevieja or Malaga at a convenient time for them- all our fees include that of the notary.
Clients with English documents can have them witnessed by us at our shop for €15 per person (we will then go through the clauses and ensure they are all signed and witnessed correctly) or they can collect them from the shop and get them signed and witnessed independently
If English LPAs are to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) we will need them back in the office after they have been signed and witnessed if the client is not using our own witnessing service.
Power of Attorney registration with the OPG in the UK can take up to 20 weeks.
An e-mail copy of Spanish Wills and LPAs will be sent to the client after registration in Madrid.
If a client has bought extra copies of English Wills we will send them FOC to their chosen executors in the UK if they have used us for Witnessing.
If a client has bought extra copies of English Wills we will send them to their chosen executors in the UK if they have not used us for Witnessing for a fee of €15.
English LPAs need to be separately signed and witnessed by the attorneys - if they reside in the UK we will send the documents to the UK based attorneys from our UK office who will then send them to our Spanish office once received back from the Attorneys. The documents will then be available by the clients to collect and sign and have witnessed or use our witnessing service.
If a client has bought extra copies of unregistered English LPAs we will send them to their chosen attorneys in the UK if they have not used us for Witnessing for a fee of €15 or FOC if they have used us for witnessing.
Where a client is registering English LPAs no copies are needed to be bought as only one copy can be registered and once registered certified extra copies can then be bought.
